Accenture Extends ISO 42001 Certification to UK
LONDON; Oct. 28, 2026 - Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has strengthened its commitment to responsible AI by extending its ISO/IEC 42001 certification to include the UK. The ISO/IEC 42001 certification is a global standard which validates the maturity of controls, transparency and processes in the development, deployment and use of artificial intelligence systems.
ISO/IEC 42001 is the first international standard that establishes the requirements for creating, implementing, maintaining and improving AI management systems (AIMS), with the aim of helping organizations to develop, provide and use AI systems responsibly.
To obtain the original certification, Accenture submitted its global governance and processes related to responsible AI to an independent evaluation, carried out by the independent body BSI Group. As a result of the certification extension, Accenture has become one of the few companies in the UK to hold this international standard granted by an accredited body.
Matt Prebble, Head of Accenture in the UK & Ireland: “By holding this certification, Accenture demonstrates that it has a responsible, effective AI management system aimed at the protection and benefit of its customers, employees and society. The externally certified framework is applied in the projects we develop with our clients, helping them to incorporate responsible AI practices such as risk management from the initial phases. In addition, it places us as one of the few companies that have ISO/IEC 42001 certification in the United Kingdom.”
As part of Accenture's "responsible by design" approach, AI risk management is integrated into projects from the early stages of design, applying policies, processes and controls based on recognized reference standards and aligned with ISO/IEC 42001, to identify, analyze, assess and address potential impacts and risks to individuals, organizations and society. In this way, Accenture has responsible AI processes in place across the AI system lifecycle and incorporates its Responsible AI principles when developing, delivering and using AI, as applicable.
