Accenture and PUBLIC team to bring innovation and digital technologies to UK government
LONDON; 22 October, 2018 —Accenture and leading GovTech firm PUBLIC are collaborating to help bring to market new start-up technologies that will enable governments to deliver smarter, more-efficient public services.
Founded in 2016 to help technology start-ups connect with and transform the public sector, PUBLIC today has a portfolio of 24 GovTech companies across all aspects of digital government.
Accenture will leverage its expertise in public-sector digital transformation to help PUBLIC further connect and scale GovTech through PUBLIC’s six-month GovStart programme — which takes start-ups that have powerful public-sector applications and provides them with tailored support, strategy and networks to help them transform the public sector. Accenture will provide mentorship and expertise to PUBLIC’s GovStart programme, helping the organisation accelerate the potential for new technology to transform the way citizens interact with government.
“The demand for technology innovation in the public sector has never been higher,” said Shaheen Sayed, who leads Accenture’s Health & Public Service business in the U.K. “In addition to ongoing budgetary constraints and the need for new approaches to develop smarter public services, governments are facing rising expectations from citizens, who expect the same level of service from government that they now get in the private sector. By working with PUBLIC to help the public sector access GovTech, we can not only provide a solution to these challenges, but an opportunity to make the U.K. a leading world player in GovTech.”
Daniel Korski, PUBLIC’s CEO & co-founder, said, “We are delighted to be starting this journey with Accenture, which will help us to bring new and powerful technologies to government, both centrally and locally. We have been constantly encouraged by the positive response we have received from the public and private sector in creating a thriving GovTech ecosystem. The opportunity to continue to build and grow GovTech with Accenture is an exciting prospect — and we look forward to all that is to come.”
